Singing a song of sixpence...

Why songs of sixpence? Because it doesn't really mean anything. Because existence is beginning to seem rather meaningless. Because today I am crushed. Defeated. Down and out. Because today my self-esteem took yet another battering. Because life doesn't seem worth very much. Certainly not more than sixpence. (Which at today's rate of exchange, is about four rupees eighty paise in Indian currency. What can that get you? Not even a pocketful of rye, I'm sure.)

So today, I sing my first song of sixpence, a mournful one. Hopefully others, more cheery ones will follow. For I shall live to fight it out and see another day. With sixpence. That's my capital.
